This central plant was constructed to supply all utilities to the 1.2 million square feet Intermountain Medical Center located in Murray, Utah. The central plant included furnishing power and controls for (4) - 30 million BTU/H boilers, (4) 1,250 ton chillers, (4) cooling towers and a brine water softener system complete with Variable Frequency Drives. Also installed were (3) 2000KW medium voltage Cummins diesel generators capable of producing 6MW of power for the campus emergency grid system. The emergency system included medium voltage metal clad paralleling switchgear, (29) automatic transfer switches and a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to automatically control the normal and emergency power system to each building on the campus.
