The phase IV construction of the High Deseret prison included a 208,000 square foot addition to the existing facility which added 1,344 new beds. The construction consisted of concrete tilt up and pre fabricated metal cells with wye chases for the electrical and mechanical systems. The service consists of four 1,200 amp 480 volt switchboards fed from four 12,470 volt delta to 480 volt wye 750 KVA transformers. At the central plant a new 17.5 KW generator set was added to the existing 1,200 amp 12,470 volt paralleling gear.

Construction also included the creation of a temporary sally port and modifications to a 12,470 volt lethal fence. Conduits were installed between existing prison facility and the new addition for all low voltage systems. Also, two 100’ high mass pole lights with 10 each 1000 watt metal halide fixtures were relocated to accommodate the additional bed facility.
